How to support your learners to fully enjoy an international mobility experience (Erasmus + or other)? This training offers you exploratory, experiential and reflective activities on the intercultural approach in a situation of mobility, that you can carry out with your learners.

Educational goals

  • Understanding the dynamics of intercultural encounters;
  • Identifying the intercultural components of a mobility experience abroad;
  • Explaining the concept of culture, applied to the individual and to the group;
  • Understanding the role and functioning of stereotypes;
  • Using empathy as a tool to help relationships and work;
  • Developing critical thinking;
  • Experiencing the tolerance of ambiguity;
  • Being attentive to the emotions, wishes and values of the other person;
  • Implementing intercultural communication strategies.

Program

This course is composed of 4 units

Unit 1 - Introduction to the intercultural approach

1:00 in a group in person, 1:00 individually remotely | Assessment: MCQ

  • A common language around the concept of interculturality

Unit 2 - Relationship to the other

2:00 in a group in person, 1:00 individually remotely | self-assessment

  • The intercultural frame of reference
  • The origin and mechanisms of stereotypes, beliefs and prejudices

Unit 3 - Ambiguity tolerance

2 hours in a group in person | self-assessment

  • What is an ambiguous situation?
  • Getting out of your comfort zone

Unit 4 - Empathy

2 hours in a group in person| Assessment: MCQ

  • Mechanisms and empathic function in groups and face-to-face
  • Empathy as a tool to help relationships and work
